That explains a lot....it should be just 100 ohms (100R). I am surprised you would get anything out of a 100K one (maybe a typo?)

Cheers Chris. I downloaded IRlib yesterday before you replied and I was about to give it a go when I tried IRremote one last time. I have similar issues to xefil with my TCL aircon unit. Very Impressed With AnalysIR

I had a 'bug' in my version of Windows 8 but the guys behind this software sent me an updated version of their software within a couple of hours. All fixed and running smoothly with our Raspberry Pi system. Excellent value for money and great support staff, highly recommended.
